Frederick Community College (FCC) is proud to announce that 200 Monroe, the College’s
student-run gourmet restaurant, has earned a 2025 OpenTable Diners’ Choice Award—marking
its eighth consecutive year receiving this national recognition.
The Diners’ Choice Award celebrates outstanding restaurants based on real feedback
from OpenTable diners who booked and dined through the platform. To be eligible, restaurants
must meet a minimum threshold of verified reviews and maintain an average rating of
four stars or higher. Categories considered include Best Overall, Best Food, Best
Service, Best Ambiance, and Best Value.
“We’re thrilled to earn this distinction for the eighth consecutive year,” said Elizabeth
DeRose, Manager of FCC’s Hospitality, Culinary & Tourism Institute (HCTI). “It’s a
testament to how talented and dedicated our students are, who are passionate about
showcasing the skills they’ve acquired in the program.”
Operated as part of HCTI’s academic curriculum, 200 Monroe offers students a capstone
learning experience where they manage every aspect of the restaurant—from menu planning
and food preparation to full-service hospitality. The restaurant opens to the public
each spring and fall semester on Thursday evenings.
Guest feedback through OpenTable continues to reflect high praise for both the cuisine
and the experience, year after year. Behind every rave review is a student turning
knowledge into craft, and service into confidence.
